Who Hawks Is
Hawks is the protagonist of Star Wars Zero Company and the leader of the company itself. Unlike authored companions such as Kabb, Trick and Tel-Rea, Hawks is a custom character: you shape his appearance, his origin in the character creator (six origin options are available) and — most importantly — his class. Every other roster member arrives with a fixed or unique class, but Hawks is the squad’s flexible slot.
Backstory
Hawks is a former Clone Captain who served in the Grand Army of the Republic under Jedi General Pong Krell during the Clone Wars. According to the story recap in GameRiot’s campaign video, he was dismissed after the Antene massacre and went on to found Zero Company, taking contracts through Republic Intelligence. Those story details come from a gameplay transcript, so treat the specifics as story content rather than official wiki copy — the broad arc (disgraced officer, new company, dangerous operation) is what launch coverage consistently references.
Personal Talents
Hawks’ personal kit is support-flavored regardless of class. Polygon’s build coverage highlights three pieces:
- A talent that grants Action Points to allies, working much like an astromech droid’s support kit.
- Personal passives that increase assist damage.
- Personal passives that raise ally defense.
That makes Hawks a multiplier: his class adds the active toolkit, while his personal talents boost whoever fights next to him.
Class Choice
You pick Hawks’ class at the start, and it can be reassigned later without penalty. Launch guides converge on three early picks: Scout for Advantage generation (the most recommended), Heavy for a tank frontline, and Soldier for versatility. ScreenRant’s Hawks build guide and Polygon’s early-class guide both treat this as a reversible opening move rather than a build commitment. Dual specs unlock later, letting Hawks mix a primary and secondary class.
