The Squad
You command a squad of up to four Operators per Tactical Mission, drawn from a roster that The Den can hold at up to 20. The roster mixes authored characters — each with their own story, talents and sometimes unique classes — with Operators you create in the character creator. IGN’s companion list, TheGamer’s operator guide and launch transcripts all describe the same structure: Hawks leads, authored companions fill out the cast, and custom recruits round out your bench.
Starting Companions
Two companions join with pre-assigned classes, so they show you how authored kits work:
- Kabb — a Scoundrel. His Uppercut melee finisher pairs with the Assault secondary spec for a 1-AP Bull Rush into a 2-AP Uppercut kill turn, per GameRant’s testing.
- Trick — a Sharpshooter, built around long-range elimination. Trick is also one of the Collector’s Edition character pins.
Authored Operators
Beyond the starting pair, the campaign introduces authored Operators whose roles are fixed by their unique classes:
- Tel-Rea — a Jedi with the unique Padawan/Wayseeker classes, including Force Push and Pull (1 AP each) and Lightsaber Throw (10 Advantage). Only she can use them.
- Cly — the only Operator who can use the Warrior spec, built around his Combat Jump talent that pushes enemies and inflicts Burn on landing.
The full authored roster is still being documented by launch-week guides, so treat this as the confirmed core rather than a complete list.
Custom Recruits
Custom characters round out the roster. You can create Operators and astromechs in the character creator, assign them standard classes, and recruit them into the squad. Creations can also be shared via game files, which is the closest the game comes to a social roster feature.
Roster Limits
Four deploy, twenty wait at The Den. That gap is intentional: squad building is a choice problem, not a shortage problem. Keengamer and TheGamer’s launch tier lists both approach the roster this way — ranking Operators by how their fixed talents combine with assignable specs, since class reassignment is free.
